Habitat Schedule & Volunteer Opportunities

The Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity has many volunteer opportunities. We need help building houses, help in our office and volunteers to serve on our committees.

Construction -

If helping build houses for families in need is what you are interested in, we have the job for you.

All construction is currently taking place in Habitat Village. We have houses in various stages of construction from digging the footings to putting on the finishing touches. Habitat Village is located off Old Wilmington Road and Buxton Blvd. It is near the intersection of 87 and 301. We get together every Saturday (that it is not raining) from 8:00 AM until 2:30 PM. If you plan to work all day you may want to bring a bag lunch.

Working on a Habitat committee affords individuals with all kinds and levels of professional skills to make a significant contribution to our mission. Listed below are a few of our committees. Call our office at 483-0952 for more information.

Building Committee - designs and builds houses.

Family Selection - reviews and processes homeowner applications and recommends prospective homeowners to the Habitat Board of Directors.

Public Relations - creates and prints material to promote the organization’s mission; solicits media attention and coverage for newsworthy events; develops marketing ideas.

Adopt-A-House - recruits and gives direction to area churches, civic groups, organizations and businesses or individuals who wish to Adopt-A-House for funding, building or both.

Nurturing - responsible for orienting all approved homeowners and then advising and counseling them in the responsibilities of owning a home.

Development - responsible for stimulating regular giving by donors, preparing fund raising letters, arranging programs and special events.

Special Projects - responsible for clearing dates for ground-breaking, dedications, or other special group gatherings; and arranging ceremonies.

Membership - works to attract new membership support and volunteer support for the work of Habitat, conduct the annual membership fund drive and maintain a complete list of current address and phone information on members.

Grant - solicits grant funding sources that would contribute in any way to the work of Habitat for Humanity.
